This thesis suggests some ideas on the interdisciplinary approach for the research of Auto Document Summarization (hereafter ADS) between Korean Education(hereafter KE) and Computer Engineering. The principles of language processing in computer are fundamentally based on the cognitive process of human. Therefore, the contents and results of KE which is interested in reading comprehension and expression including summarization contribute a great deal to ADS. The results of researches accomplished in KE are accumulated so much so far such as text comprehension, discourse and text structure, word acquisition, etc. The research on ADS will be more concrete when it refer to the process of text comprehension and expression of human being including learners. Therefore, interdisciplinary approach between KE and CE cannot be emphasized too much. In this point some suggestions and prospects on ADS research are presented as follows. Firstly, the need and possibility of context-based approach on ADS. When we research on ADS, we need to consider on sociocultural context as well as context of discourse and text, furthermore addressor, addressee, intention, purpose, message and schemata when we construct ontologies. Secondly, we need to consider the discourse marker and text structure more deeply and precisely, including micro-structure, macro-structure, super-structure and sequences of rhetorical expressions.
