Abstract

This research aimed to take a reflective review of problems on the language awareness in media education. This research was based upon the promise that the curriculum until recently deals media in the three context, acception, application, working. This thesis suggest three aspect of problems to solve on the language awareness in media education. That is as follows,First, a learner experience the dissonance of language awareness when he come across the media texts as a audience and a producer. Second, a learner is in a state of confusion about his identity in that time of coming across the media texts as a linguistic group and a individual. Third, there is a gap between the attitude of language use be asked normatively and the attitude being formed empirically. This thesis also suggest a proposal and some case for productive and effective media education based on the reflective language awareness not on the phenomenon of media and media text.
