Analyzing the Sequence of Reading Curriculum Contents

Abstract

This paper analyzed the sequence of National curriculum of Korean language subject, specially reading contents. Sequence is arranging the curriculum contents according to the grade, semester, and units. In this paper, sequence analysis tools and procedure were developed. Sequence criteria were consist of 5 types and 12 specific principles of reading. Five types are knowledge, skill, attitude, text, and learning activity according to curriculum contents frame. Sequence committee was consist of 6 reading specialists, who were teachers and got the doctor degree. As a result, it is good and acceptable about the sequence of reading curriculum of 2009 revised version. There are two achievement standards which should be adjusted the grade placement. Standard 3-4-(5) is placed 4th grade now, but it is needed to place up one grade. Standard 7-9-(11) is placed grade 9th now, but it is needed to place down one grade. After analyzing as to 12 specific principles, there is no critical sequence problem.
