The Characteristics of Knowledge about the Korean Language and Area Organization of the Korean Language as a Subject

Abstract
This study is to examine the identity of the area of the knowledge about the Korean language by discussing the value and the character of the knowledge education within the Korean language as a subject. A plan has been introduced to solve the disagreement between the original goal set by the Korean language and the authentic goal set by the national curriculum or its content areas. Knowledge about the Korean language is basic knowledge for learners to improve their Korean language arts, searching aspects of Korean- linguistic phenomena, cultural heritage of the Korean language and the spiritual aspect of being Korean. Here, I'm trying to demonstrate that the knowledge holds its educational value in the Korean language as a subject, and also show that the goal which is creative extension of the Korean language arts is not being fulfilled by all of knowledges about the Korean language. In this paper a new goal has been set to the creative extension of Korean ability(extension of thinking power through the Korean -linguistic activities), considering the universality of education and the characteristics of this subject. Also a new organization of areas within the Korean language as a subject based on this new goal has been established.
