The purpose of this study is to examine the changing aspect of the modern literature materials in secondary textbooks. The classical materials was grouped into the Korean modern poetry, the Korean modern novel, the Korean modern drama and those of foreign literature. In the Korean poems and songs, it was acquired the canonical status, the poet such as 김소월, 김영랑, 박목월, 이육사. 이육사, 김상옥. In the Korean prose, <소나기> created by 황순원 was representative text. In the Korean drama, <원술랑> created by 유치진 was representative text. In the foreign literature, it was acquired the canonical status, the novel such as <큰 바위 얼굴> created by Nathaniel Hawthorne and <별> created by Alphonse Daudet.
