Abstract
Critical Review and Principles of ‘Site-Based Reading Program’ Kim, Hye-jeung The purpose of this paper is to review site-based reading phenomenon critically, and to propose a few principles in contents-constructing of reading program as a sample. First, they were what teachers plan across-curriculum reading program based on the contents-area reading, which is able to be called task-based reading program. They were thematic unit-based approach, individualized reading approach and self- selected reading, laying on the contents-area reading. Secondly, they were composed with reading and writing. Procedures of program follow as:First, each curriculum and each grade decide reading-task, which is thinking issues, and is able to be treated by students after reading each material-text. Second, students recognize nature and purpose of task, which is closely connected with contents of curricula, and students decide text type and texts. Third, each student reads by himself and does various activities after reading. for example, thematic unit is constructed by thematic 5 domain. This program will help that across-curriculum activities is revitalized, and student reads and selects text of his own accord.
