Abstract

The purpose of this study is the goals, contents and aspect of media education in Australian English Curriculum. It is mentioned about English as an area of learning, texts & languages strand, bands in A Statement on English for Australian schools. English is that area of the curriculum where students study and use English language and literature. Texts strand includes literature, mass media are every days texts and language strand involves contextual understanding, linguistic structures and features and strategies. The Bands are divided from A to D. The areas for media education are different from each state, but generally ‘viewing’ area is set up for understanding of media massages and ‘writing’ area is fixed for production of media texts.
