Policies about Korean Language Textbook

Abstract

We discussed on some issues about publishing policy, assessing policy and using policy of korean language textbook. We should move from government-issued textbook system to free publishing system in order to raise up creativity and variety. we must make a publishing company can't apply many textbooks for authorization. The policy that government-issued textbook system is for primary school and textbook authorization system is for middle school is invalid. And author of textbooks must have the authority of making textbook system. There should be some characteristics of korean language textbook in authorization assessment criterions. And there must be a authorization assessment criterions for levels of texts and activities. And authorization assessment criterions have to be generalized for making creative korean language textbook. The regulation that every schools should use only government-issued textbooks or authorized textbooks must be improved. There are realistic methods of extending users' rights of selecting materials, for examples, students and teachers can use any other materials in textbook published by other company and materials in digital textbook.
