Ecological Assessment Methods in Grammar Education -Making an Assessment Question Using Text and Context-

Abstract

This study aims at finding assessment methods with text and context, from defining perspectives of the ecological assessment and making assessment principles based on the text dynamics. The ecology has a frame of “relationship” and “wholeness” and the ecological assessment in Korean language education focused on understanding the literacy performing competence with the “ecological environment”, “authentic texts”, “cooperation and caring”, “reflection of teaching-learning system”. The ecological assessment in Grammar education concentrates on understanding grammatical competence which is a base of the literacy performing “accurately” and “appropriately”. At this time, because the literacy is expressed on procedures of the text understanding, the assessment in grammar needs to look at the formal accuracy and the meaning․functional appropriateness, based on a concept of the text dynamics. So, this study makes assessment principles, “Text's Authenticity”, “Language Arts Integration”, “Grammar Forms and Meaning․Function Balance”, “Learner’s Cooperation”. An assessment plan has an objective and elements by reviewing a recent curriculum. The assessment elements are “text comprehension”, “grammar observation”, “grammar’s meaning․functional appropriateness”, “grammar's formal accuracy”, and “cooperative performing”. Finally, a question is developed in the fields of the “postposition”, because it reveals people’s psychological attitude leaning toward many contexts in a text.
