Abstract
This thesis suggests some ideas on the undertanding the characters in Korean classical novels. The main idea has to do with character criticism in novel education Character criticism is the educational understanding activity that the reader such as high school student read the fiction-such as Chunhyang-jeon, Heungbu-jeon, etc.- and get the image of the characters, to write criticism. Character criticism is a kind of literary criticism. The Process of Character Criticism is as in the following. In First Reader have to find character information source in the text. Character information source is classified into two categories, explicit information source and implied information source. The next stage, the reader interpret character information source, and estimate the character, to describe the outcome of the interpretation. This outcome, the character criticism follow the demonstration structure. This thesis suggest the new educational way to understand the character of fictions. This is relevant in this regard.
