Analysis of Question Characteristics of the Israeli National Language Textbooks: Focusing on Hebrew language textbooks of primary school

Abstract
This study has the objective of drawing implications for the development of Korean language textbooks by analyzing the characteristics of questions of the Israeli national language(Hebrew) textbooks for 5th and 6th graders of primary school. The analysis criteria include the position and function of questions, question content. The Israeli national language textbooks provide different levels of questions with a variety of functions at various positions. According to the analysis results of questions, the Israeli national language textbooks call students as readers and provide the following questions: questions that recognize students as the subjects of learning and text understanding, critical and creative questions that requires a precise understanding of texts, questions that call for students to evaluate what is not written in texts and develop a new way of thinking, questions that encourage students to form a reader’s viewpoint, and questions that support different forms of collaborative learning and practical cooperation.
