Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the system for Korean Language Teacher Candidates’ Tests, and propose improvement methods. As a fundamental reform plan, we propose establishing a teacher demand plan from a long-term perspective, publicizing it in a socially informed manner and reforming the teacher-training institute entirely. However, these reforms should not only ensure economic efficiency, but also be “educational” reforms that produce practical and academic growth of Korean language education. Short-term improvement suggests methods regarding problems concerning the current middle-school Korean language recruitment test system. They are as follows. First, the weighting of each sample point needs to be adjusted. The proportion of the second test should be increased by adopting pass-through. Second, all members in the specialization field needs to be secured for stable entry. Third, the entry type of the current employment test is unsuitable for the item type that selects the Korean language teacher. Therefore, it should be abolished or replaced with another item type. Fourth, for some items with a high score, students should be allowed to score by the foremost scorer in question.
