An Essay on Modality in Grammar Education

Abstract
This study examines the grammar educational value of the modality and examines how to improve the status of grammar education based on it. The modality concept was originally derived from the modal logic, but it is used in actual language by actively handling the interpersonal function. Therefore, modality as a category can be meaningful not only in grammar education but also in Korean language education as a whole. In order to accept modality in current grammar education is to add the modality in parallel to the existing system, to adjust the system to strengthen the more onomasiological approach, or to accommodate it in the alternative concept of stance.
