Abstract
The purpose of this study is to suggest the learning competencies required for learners and seek Korean language classes to expand such competencies. This study finds that “contradictions” are inevitably generated in any system, and the ability to face and resolve contradictions is the core of future learning competencies. Based on Engeström’s “Cultural-Historical Activity Theory,” I designed a class focusing on the learner’s experience of solving contradictions. Learners were sometimes confused in unfamiliar learning experiences. However, in the new class that connects their lives and learning, they discover the possibility for Expansive learning.
