Abstract

In this study, a digital-platform-based writing workshop using Google Docs was designed for a non-face-to-face online class due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The interaction patterns between learners and their educational effects were analyzed during the execution process. The results of the study show that learners had high satisfaction with the writing workshop activities. They managed to work as writers who cooperatively completed better writing exercises through peer-based feedback in the digital space. Moreover, a qualitative analysis of learners’ responses found that such writing workshop activities conducted in the digital space were positive for learners’ writing motivation, self-efficacy, reader awareness, thinking expansion, and writing ability development, overcoming writing anxiety and fear. The results of this study are meaningful in that they confirmed the possibility of alternative writing education based on the writing space of a digital platform in an online lecture situation through an case study.
