"남자와 여자는 비슷하면서도 다르다": 쓰기 워크숍에서 아동의 자기 선택 글쓰기 주제에 나타난 성별 특성 분석

초록
본 연구는 민족지학적 방법을 활용하여 초등학교 3학년 교실에서 학생들이 어떻게 글쓰기 주제를 선택하고, 성별과 관련하여 또래의 주제 선택을 어떻게 인식하는지를 조사하였다. 본 연구는 아동의 글쓰기와 성별 담론, 그리고 미디어 생산에서 나타나는 아동의 성별 정체성 수행에 관한 선행 연구에 기반을 두고 있다. 자료 수집은 한 학기 동안의 참여 관찰, 현장 노트, 반구조화된 면담, 교사 및 학생과의 비공식적 회고적 대화, 학생 글쓰기 산출물 수집 등을 포함하였다. 학생의 이야기에서 성별 고정관념의 표현을 보여준 선행 연구의 결과와 달리, 본 연구에서 학생들의 이야기는 전통적인 성별 이분법과 일치하지 않았다. 오히려 학생들이 전통적인 성별 이분법에 종속되지 않는 인식되지 않은 순간들이 여러 차례 있었다. 이러한 결과는 교사가 학생들이 당연시되는 성별 관계와 담론을 인식하고 질문하며 해체할 수 있는 교실 환경을 조성할 수 있음을 시사한다. 학생들과 함께 다양한 성별 구성을 명시적으로 다루려는 노력은 더 포용적이고 사회문화적으로 민감한 문식성 교육을 만드는 데 기여할 것이다.
