Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate and point out the issues and problems of the 7th curriculum, which will be a good chance to modify the curriculum or develop a new one. The main problems of the 7th national Korean language curriculum, so-called ‘Differentiated and Individualized Curriculum’, are concept of level, making differentiation between levels, providing contents in curriculum and activities in textbook for the advanced or supplementary students, excess of contents in textbook, etc. The ‘level’ regarding the advanced or supplementary students can be differentiated as follows, that is ① level of cognitive and emotional development ② degrees of difficulties of text and contents (complexity, knowledge) ③ level of individual students(abilities in studying, achieving and difference of interest) ④ level of the studying group (class, school, district). We need to consider the concept of ‘stage’ which is consist of 2 grades, for example 1st grade and 2nd grade. Applying the concept of ‘stage’ is helpful in reducing the difficulties of making differentiation of close 2 grades. I'd like to suggest the 3 strands system in curriculum such as speaking and listening (partially including media studies, presentation, viewing), reading (including viewing), writing (including presentation).
