A Approach of Reading Instruction Based on the Subject of Reader

Abstract

The subject of reader constructs idea in reading. The view which is emphasizing to construct idea of the subject of reader is the reader-centered reading. It accepts that the subject of reader play an important leading role for constructing idea. This view of reading is played a part positive role in reading instruction. But it have some problems for reading teaching. This essay is discussed what we should do that problems solving. The method of constructing idea of the subject will be recognized differently according to view of the reader's role. The reader's subject have two aspect. One is the active subject, the other is the passive subject. The former is text-centered reader's subject, and the latter is reader-centered reader's subject. The active subject is divided two types. The one is isolated subject who he uses the background knowledge and reading strategies for constructs idea. The other is relative subject who he uses conversation to interacting another reader's subject for constructs idea. The idea that the isolated subject constructs is called ‘subjective idea’. And the idea that the relative subject constructs is ‘intersubjective idea’. The student reader should become the relative reader's subject. So, he must constructs ‘intersubjective idea’. The reading instruction should help student to take the relative subject by conversational interactive.
