Abstract
A Study on Teaching-Learning Methods for Media Language Education-Focused on the Cultural Media Literacy-Choi, Ji-hyunRecent Researches on media language education have shown an interest in ‘How to teach media language’. Taking a viewpoint on ‘Korean language education as the media language education’, I also designed the teaching- learning model of media language education for development of literacy. For this study, I hypothesized three levels of the cultural media literacy. Three levels of the cultural media literacy were classified as follows;basic level:understanding about communicative property and formative property of media languagestandard level:comprehension of convention and system in mode of media cultureintensive level:experience and institutionalization in mode of media cultureAccording to these levels, teaching-learning model for media language education would be embodied diversely. To show the applicative cases, I suggested three instructional methods accompanied with the three levels of cultural media literacy one by one. (1) ‘media comparative method’ in single unit class(for understanding about communicative property and formative property of media language). (2) ‘story-telling instruction’ in multiple units class(for comprehension of convention and system in mode of media culture). (3) ‘media production project’ in multiple units class as a long term program(for experience and institutionalization in mode of media culture)
