Abstract
A Study on the Improvement Directions of the Speech Communication Curriculum at High SchoolNoh, Eun-heeThe purpose of this study is to suggest the improvement plan of the Speech Communication education with respect to the 7th national curriculum revision, based on the analysis of the document system and the implementation of the Elective-centered Curriculum. In order to achieve this purpose the characteristics, objectives, and the relevance of the contents in Speech Communication Curriculum are renewed and the discussed. This study consists of five sections as follows:The first chapter presents the purpose and method of this study. The second and third chapters discuss the current state of the issues and present the analysis of the needs for Speech Communication Education. In these chapters, there are the opinions of teachers, pupils, pupils‘ parents, professor, specialists in various fields about the issues, such as philosophy, directions, contents structure, textbooks etc. for Speech Communication Education at high school. The fourth chapter suggests the desirable direction of improvement in the Speech Communication Curriculum. The fifth chapter proposes some suggestions from the results of the analysis and a discussion about these issues.The main findings of this study are as follows:first, Speech Communication Curriculum must reflect a human relation quality and a social culture quality. Second, Speech Communication Curriculum must become the substantial help in aptitude and course of the high student. Regarding these, this study suggests an aim and a contents of the Speech Communication Curriculum.
