Abstract

In the field of Korean Literature or Korean Education, discussions regarding Korean Folk Song Education are not very active. Research has not yet been expanded in to education in the field of Korean Folk Song, and Korean Education does not pay much interest in it either. This paper focuses on whether the existing 36 Korean Literature textbooks (7th edition) used in Korean high schools have fully comprehended the Korean Folk Song itself. Out of the total of 18 classifications of textbooks,15 books have made thorough explanations on Korean Folk;however, many were found to be in error. In addition to misunderstandings made on the genres of Korean Folk, there were numerous errors made on the content of editorial itself. These misinterpretations have been made because there are almost no experts on Korean Folk or Korean Folk Education in the textbook editing crew. These errors occurred not due to wrong analysis, but due to repeated usage of existing misinformation-usage almost to the extent of plagiarism. The best solution to the eradication of these errors would be to engage the experts concerning Korean Folk in the editing process. In cases where this solution is realistically difficult to fulfill, it will be absolutely necessary that the experts at least proof read or give useful advice.
