A Study on the Direction of Academic Grammar

Abstract
The education of academic grammar, which are taught in elementary and secondary schools, are teaching the result of linguistic studies in brief. But the goal of academic grammar is different to that of linguistics. The goal of academic grammar is to develope the ability to explore learners' language and to use correctly. For teaching academic grammar, we should consider the structure of a language and a learner as a user of those language. In this paper, I show 7 directions for teaching academic grammar as below:The education of academic grammar should. (1) be correspondence with the goal of the education of nation language, (2) be balanced between the result centered learning and process centered learning, (3) be learned the rule as a dynamic prescription which accept diversity of language use, (4) be taught balanced between the inductive activities and deduction activities, (5) teach some principles which are worthy to learn, (6) consider learners' ability and interests for selecting teaching contents, and (7) teach to understand the cultural values of Korean language.
