Abstract
The significance of quotation is day by day elevated in cultural criticism, because quotation is an important mechanism or device of intertextuality. This paper aims to review an aspect of quotation expressed in the 6th elementary students’ expository book reports, and analysis its presentation, proposing better reading and writing instruction for expository book report writing. In their book reports, it is found that students impressed their feelings well, but direct quotation is rarely expressed and summary- comment, too. There are found so many paraphrases relatively, but mostly immature expressions. Then, this article try to analysis current curriculum, elementary textbooks, and teachers’ teaching guideline books for quotation pedagogical contents. But few contents are found. So this paper proposes that explicit instruction of quotation is necessary and important for better reading and writing a expository book report.
