Abstract

This study aims to explore the direction in which Korean education should move in response to significant changes in the school environment. First, by reflecting on the accelerated pandemic-related changes in school environments, the effectiveness of ongoing discourse regarding future education was reexamined. Literacy is a crucial skill for future generations who will need to collaborate with AI agents. Thus, focusing on the essential nature of linguistic thinking abilities unique to humans, the study investigates “contexerence,” arguing that the Korean education system should embrace an “extended literacy” paradigm. Lastly, the study suggests a needed direction of change for implementing “extended literacy education” within the landscape of Korean language education.
