Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the causal relationship between individual absorptive capacity and ERP usage performance from a knowledge transfer perspective. To this end, individual absorptive capacity was divided into three components—prior knowledge, knowledge internalization capability, and knowledge utilization capability—and the effect of each component on ERP usage performance was empirically analyzed. All three components of absorptive capacity were found to have direct and indirect effects on ERP usage performance, and prior knowledge was found not to directly affect usage performance but to influence ERP usage performance through knowledge internalization capability and knowledge utilization capability. Furthermore, the level of organizational support was found to moderate the relationship between knowledge internalization capability and ERP usage performance.
