A Study of Recognition on Local Coherence in Discourse -In the case of highschool freshmen

Abstract
In this study pronominal binding and ellipsis has been studied via both resolution tasks and judgement tasks which had been presented to 71 highschool students. Through this article, three points have been tested. One of them is that pronominal resolution might be affected on its time by the types of local coherence. The other point is that there is a difference in accuracy between them. Third point is that there is preference for the type of local coherence. Especially subjects have a tendency to prefer as follows: continue = retain > smooth-shift > rough-shift. This is not parallel to the fact identified by centering theory. According to the fact which have been identified and stipulated in this study, the contents of discursive education should be prepared in Korean language education.
