인터넷 독자의 인식적 처리에 관한 사례 기반 고찰 - 두 대학생 독자의 정보 탐색, 평가, 종합 양상 비교를 중심으로

초록

독자는 인터넷에서 타당한 지식이나 관점을 구성하기 위해 개별 정보를 검증하고 자신의 의미구성 과정을 점검한다. 이때 독자가 지니고 있는 지식과 앎에 대한 태도이자 관점을 뜻하는 인식론적 신념은 독자의 판단과 결정에 중요한 역할을 수행할 것으로 보인다. 이 연구는 인식론적 신념이 인터넷 읽기에서 작동하는 양상을 인식적 처리의 개념을 활용해 확인하고자 했다. 인식적 처리란 정보를 검증하고 평가하거나 지식구성 과정을 점검하고 조정 할 때 수행되는 인지적, 메타인지적 읽기 행위를 말한다. 이 연구에서는 인식론적 신념의 수준이 다르고 관점 구성의 결과에 차이가 있던 두 대학생 독자를 중심으로 인터넷 읽기에서의 인식적 처리를 분석했다. 결과적으로 개별 독자의 인식적 판단, 점검, 조정에 따라 정보 탐색, 평가, 종합의 과정이 어떻게 달라지는지를 비교해 기술함으로써 인식론적 신념의 작동 양상을 간접적 으로 확인했다.
